This exhibition draws from the museum's collection of art by the Woodland Indians.  Not only does this exhibition include excellent examples of quillwork and sweetgrass basketry from both Michigan and Ottawa artists, but also prints by artists of the famed woodland or Anishinabe style of painting, such as Norval Morrisseau and Roy Thomas.

The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College of Traverse City, Michigan will organize an exhibition consisting of 50 prints in observance of this significant 50^th Anniversary milestone.  Prints will be selected from the Museum's collection and represent each year of the 50 year history of Inuit printmaking beginning with 1959.  The museum holds prints from co-operatives including Baker Lake, Cape Dorset, Holman, Pangnirtung, as well as miscellaneous and independent co-operatives.  The prints exhibited will also include a Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection release.

The exhibition will open with the date of the annual release sale of the Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection.  This will also coincide with the annual meeting of the Inuit Art Society consisting of Inuit Art collectors throughout the United States who will meet at the Dennos Museum Center the weekend of the Annual Dorset Collection release.

This exhibition explores presidential papers from the likes of James Madison, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington as well as portraits of these important American leaders.  Presidential Papers and Portraits was organized in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities' Picturing America Program.

You are invited to attend the 13th Annual Poet's Night Out, a poetry reading at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City located at 106 E. Front Street.

Participating area poets will read their winning entries from a contest sponsored by the Friends of the Traverse City District Library, Horizon Books, Book O Rama, Joyful Noise Daycare, and the Traverse Area District Library.

Pat Ivory will play guitar, refreshments will be served, and during the first half of the evening the audience will be voting to choose the Audience Prize winners.  Prizes will be awarded during the second half of the program.  Come enjoy local entertainment at its finest.
