This exhibition draws from the museum's collection of art by the Woodland Indians.  Not only does this exhibition include excellent examples of quillwork and sweetgrass basketry from both Michigan and Ottawa artists, but also prints by artists of the famed woodland or Anishinabe style of painting, such as Norval Morrisseau and Roy Thomas.

The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College of Traverse City, Michigan will organize an exhibition consisting of 50 prints in observance of this significant 50^th Anniversary milestone.  Prints will be selected from the Museum's collection and represent each year of the 50 year history of Inuit printmaking beginning with 1959.  The museum holds prints from co-operatives including Baker Lake, Cape Dorset, Holman, Pangnirtung, as well as miscellaneous and independent co-operatives.  The prints exhibited will also include a Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection release.

The exhibition will open with the date of the annual release sale of the Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection.  This will also coincide with the annual meeting of the Inuit Art Society consisting of Inuit Art collectors throughout the United States who will meet at the Dennos Museum Center the weekend of the Annual Dorset Collection release.

This exhibition explores presidential papers from the likes of James Madison, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington as well as portraits of these important American leaders.  Presidential Papers and Portraits was organized in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities' Picturing America Program.

Students from the NMC Astronomy Club and Grand Traverse Astronomical Society are hosting an opportunity to Stargaze in order to expose more people to astronomy. They have scheduled weekly viewing nights to commemorate 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy.  Programming will be different each week. Souvenirs like a "star finder" map of the sky will be available.

The Annual JRAC Holiday Arts and Crafts Show is held at the East Jordan High School on the second Saturday of November featuring arts and crafts from all over Michigan.

The Dance Center Youth Ensemble presents its twelfth full-length ballet, "Sleeping Beauty" at the Milliken Auditorium.  This original production will be presented by over 50 area student members of The Dance Center Youth Ensemble, along with guest actors and dancers from the Northern Michigan area.  Told through music, dance, and drama, this ballet presents the classic fairytale story of the Princess Aurora who is cursed to sleep for 100 years, to be awakened by a Prince who captures her heart.  Set to original score by Tchaikovsky, the ballet is a joy for audiences of all ages.  Concerts will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 2 PM and 7 PM and on Sunday, November 15th at 2 PM and 5 PM.  A free children's reception will follow the 2 PM matinee performances each day, where audience members have the opportunity to share cookies and punch while meeting the cast members.  Tickets and more information are available by calling The Dance Center at (231) 947-6820 or online at www.dance-center.net with ticket prices ranging from $10 to $15.
